ASTRO Byond Installation

As earlier blog i have explain the option that can be considered for the Astro Infrastructure Installation.

Now, i will show you the diagrammatic for the installation (concept). Due to the signal of Astro Byond (HD) is different with existing Astro SD so the installation also differ.

The diagrammatic is only for single tenant unit and for Dwelling unit only.

For single tenant unit shall be as follows

For Dwelling unit shall be as follows

ASTRO Byond

ASTRO Byond

It has been a 2 weeks already for me to digest and discover how to design the SMATV system that can received Astro Byond services. Previous SD Astro is very simple compare to latest Astro HD which is totally different design and parameter.

There is 2 type of configuration that can be done which is :-

1. 4 nos. of coaxial

2. 1 no of SM fibre

OPTION 1 : 4 nos of coax.

This configuration has been used for so long already, if you are flash back years years ago this arrangement has been implemented, but it not as easy as we thinks of, could you imaging that 4 cable from LNB shall be bring down all the way in the riser and split or tap using special tap to ensure the dB drop are acceptable.

Just imagine the conventional SMATV configuration (using 1 no. of Coaxial) but you need to multiply with 4 nos. it still wont congest your riser but i could not imagine that how many of booster and tap require to be in placed due to the multiple cable going down. And to calculate the dB drop for this system also not so simple. it takes days to ensure each point can receive of the minimum 62dB at the end point.

This configuration is suitable for small scale of development maybe 5 to 6 storey and the SMATV point provision in the unit is minimum.

To make short in my OPINION this arrangement should not be use.

OPTION 2: 1 no SM Fiber

This configuration is the most simpler way to do, don't have to think of the distance, don't think MUCH on losses -- but still need to calculate the drop--- its very flexible .. but its got limitation because each sat disk only can cater for up to 32 multi switch only. but no worry because the each multi switch can serve 16 outlet (recommended), or 28 outlet (not recommended). which mean it can serve up to 512 SMATV outlet (recommended) or 896 SMATV outlet (not recommended).

this configuration can be very cheap and it also can be a bomb. depend on the design requirement.

Based on my finding (actually based my project), for luxury condominium, or so call dwelling unit the cost of installation of this system can be seems like ridiculous ... but it also can be very reasonable depend on client requirement.

For my case, each condo unit consist of more than 9 TV point even 13 TV point which is connected to centralized SMATV system, if all the point need to be ASTRO Byond ready (requirement 1)the cost of the installation of the system is BOMB... but if only 1 TV point in the condo unit require ASTRO Byond ready (requirement 2) the installation cost gonna be very cheap, its about 85% cheaper compare to requirement 1

I will expalain further how to design the infrastructure for this system later ...
